NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Austerlitz (the “Owner”) invites sealed bids for the construction of an enclosed stage/bandstand to be located at the Austerlitz Town Park, on State Route 203, Spencertown/Austerlitz, NY 12165. The end result should be a completed structure ready to use.
All bids must be received by 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 15, 2025 to be considered. Any bid received after the deadline cannot be considered. Sealed bids are to be marked on the envelope as “Bid for Austerlitz Park Stage”.
Bids are to be delivered by mail or in person to: Susan Haag/Town Clerk, PO Box 238, Spencertown, NY 12165, or by hand to Susan Haag/Town Clerk, 816 State Route 203, Spencertown, NY.
The bids will be opened by the Town Clerk in the view of the public at 10:30 am on September 15, 2025 and will be considered by the Town Board at the Town Board meeting on September 18, 2025.
Acceptance of bids hereunder and the awarding of contracts by the Town of Austerlitz shall be contingent upon the bids being in an amount acceptable to the Town Board as authorized and required by law. Proof of insurance is required.
The Town of Austerlitz reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any and all informalities and the right to disregard all non-conforming, non-responsive conditional bids. All proposals become the property of the Town of Austerlitz. NOTICE
After September 21, 2025, in continued planning for a celebration commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, the Town of Austerlitz 250th Anniversary Celebration Committee, approved by motion of the Town Board, will coordinate with the Spencertown Cemetery Association to clean identified grave markers in need of care. This effort will include the grave markers of individuals who served in the Revolutionary War.

Town of Austerlitz Partners with Spencertown Fire Company to Establish Emergency Warming & Cooling Center Spencertown, NY — The Town of Austerlitz and the Spencertown Fire Company (SFC) have announced a new partnership aimed at providing temporary relief for residents during periods of extreme heat or cold—especially during power outages when home heating or air conditioning may not be available.
At its most recent monthly meeting, the Austerlitz Town Board formally adopted Extreme Temperature Cooling & Warming Center Guidelines, a project spearheaded by Town Supervisor Rob Lagonia. This initiative expands the Town’s ability to offer safe, temperature-controlled environments to residents in need.
In addition to the Austerlitz Town Hall being available during regular business hours, when requested by the Town, residents may now spend time at the Spencertown Fire Company, located at #1 Memorial Drive, Spencertown, NY. The firehouse is equipped with a backup emergency generator that ensures continued access to electricity in the event of a power outage—allowing residents not only to warm up or cool off but also to charge mobile devices and stay connected.
On September 2, Supervisor Lagonia and SFC President Daniel Howes met to finalize an agreement establishing the new protocol. Under this arrangement, when necessary, Supervisor Lagonia or Deputy Supervisor Greg Vogler may request that the SFC open its meeting room to the public for specific periods of time by contacting President Howes or another member of the Executive Board. A member of the fire company will be present whenever the space is in use to ensure safety and provide assistance. While the space is not intended for 24/7 or overnight stays, it will serve as a temporary refuge where town residents can seek relief.
“This partnership strengthens our town’s emergency preparedness and provides peace of mind for residents during increasingly common extreme weather events,” said Supervisor Lagonia. “We’re always proud to support our community and stand ready to help when needed,” added President Howes.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Planning Board of the Town of Austerlitz will hold a Public Hearing on a minor subdivision application for property located on Middle Road in the Town of Austerlitz (Tax Map #79.-1-28.100) owned by Tasker Management LLC. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Austerlitz has introduced and proposed for adoption Local Law No. 2 of 2025, which proposes to amend the Town’s zoning law codified in Chapter 195 of the Austerlitz Town Code. The proposed
law contains a number of amendments to the current Zoning Code including new schedule of uses table, general and special use permit standards, regulations on short term rentals and events, and amended administration and enforcement provisions. The Town Board has determined that the action of adopting this law is a Type I action under the SEQRA regulations.

Please take notice that the Austerlitz Fire District of the town of Austerlitz, County of Columbia, New York, will hold its regular meetings for the year 2025 on the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of February, which will be held on the second Tuesday, all at 6:30 p.m. at the Spencertown Fire Company, One Memorial Drive, Spencertown NY.
