Scope of Work:
The Aging Committee is the only Committee charged with studying, investigating and making recommendations on how the Town can better serve its senior residents and how to provide suitable housing so that seniors can age in place or in other appropriate facilities that can be
reasonably located in the Town of Austerlitz or nearby. If the Aging Committee has any recommendations that changes or impacts the Town of Austerlitz Zoning Code, it must report directly to and collaborate with the Zoning Updates Committee. If there are specific recommendations that do not impact the Town’s Zoning Code, the Committee may make such recommendations directly to the Town Board.
In furtherance of the above, the Aging Committee should refer to the Comprehensive Plan, Recommendations E-1 through E-7, as a guide but is not limited to those recommendations. The Aging Committee shall work with the Housing Committee on Recommendation E-2.
Guidance Notes:
Since no Committee is authorized to take any acts on behalf of the Town without first obtaining permission of the Town Board, the Aging Committee may make specific recommendations to the Town Board for implementation as to recommendations E-6 and E-7 of the Comprehensive Plan. The Aging Committee should seek to collaborate with the Housing Committee (or vice versa) on issues of housing for seniors.
Reports:
The Aging Committee shall keep the Town Board regularly informed of its progress and should provide written or in-person reports to the Town Board at least once every month.
