Scope of Work:
The Zoning Updates Committee will be the Committee principally charged with recommending to the Town Board any proposed changes to the Town of Austerlitz Zoning Code. If any other committee recommends a policy or regulation that may require a change to the Zoning Code, that recommendation should be submitted to the Zoning Updates Committee for its review prior to being submitted to the Town Board. The Zoning Updates Committee may approve, modify or reject the recommendation as it deems appropriate or it may collaborate with, or instruct, the Committee that made the recommendation to modify it.
In addition, the Zoning Updates Committee is hereby charged with the following tasks:
- Review the existing Zoning Map and investigate whether any changes are warranted such as expanding the hamlet districts, creating new districts, establishing areas or locations for commercial or nonresidential development;
- Review the existing regulations on Ridgeline Protection and development on steep slopes; investigate ways to reasonably enhance protections to such natural features of the Town - see Recommendation A-2 of the Comprehensive Plan for this and other Recommendations;
- Investigate or develop regulations as suggested in Recommendations B-3 (in coordination with the Conservation Advisory Committee for B-3a and the Housing Committee for B-3c), B-4, C-2, C-8, D-2, D-5, D-6, H-2 through H-6, I-1, J-4 and M-3 of the Comprehensive Plan.
Guidance Notes:
The above scope of work is to start the work and may be updated and revised as the Committees proceed with their work. The Zoning Updates Committee may collaborate with any other Committee on specific topics.
Reports:
The Zoning Updates Committee shall keep the Town Board regularly informed of its progress or issues by written reports to the Town Board at least once a month to be submitted to the Town Clerk at least a week before the Town Board’s regular meeting.
